Pen Pals from the Past creates fictionalized, history-inspired letters for children. Letters are written and reviewed by our team, personalized from adult-provided details, printed, and mailed. No endorsement by historical figures, estates, schools, churches, or public institutions is implied.
The service is intended to be purchased and managed by adults. The purchaser is responsible for providing accurate shipping details, age and reading-level information, topic restrictions, and any reply details used for future letters.
We use the information provided by the adult purchaser to personalize letters. We may adjust character tracks, tone, content, length, or historical framing for safety, age fit, fulfillment capacity, or respectful representation.
Pen Pals Mailbox Club purchases renew each month until canceled. Cancel before the next billing date to avoid the next renewal. Letters already prepared or mailed may not be refundable except as described in the refund policy.
The standard monthly price is $19. The temporary introductory offer charges $1 for the first month and then renews automatically at the promotional $5 monthly rate for as long as that subscription remains active. It is limited to first-time subscribers and one per household. Duplicate or ineligible introductory orders may be canceled and refunded.
Six-month adventures and yearly plans are prepaid and do not renew automatically. Each includes one guaranteed letter per month for the selected period.
When we receive a reader reply through the adult-managed reply process during an active paid plan, we will send a personalized answer. We send no more than four outgoing letters or postcards in any calendar month. The maximum is 24 outgoing pieces during a six-month plan and 48 during a twelve-month plan. Reaching those totals requires regular reader replies throughout the active plan. Replies must be suitable for the service and may be adjusted or declined for safety, privacy, respectful representation, or prohibited content.
Launch orders are available for U.S. shipping addresses only. Shipping timelines are estimates and may be affected by USPS, holidays, weather, address errors, or fulfillment volume.
If a purchaser submits a child reply, drawing description, or other details, the purchaser confirms they have permission to share it for order fulfillment. Do not submit sensitive personal information that is not needed to prepare the letters.
Subscriptions can be managed or canceled through the customer portal linked on this site. Questions and support requests can also be sent to hello@penpalsmail.com. Cancellation stops future renewals and does not reverse a charge already used to prepare or mail a personalized letter, except as stated in the refund policy.
